Here the edges of a truck leak into the frame of the ancient alms giving ceremony in Luang Prabang. The Alms giving is a popular attraction in Luang Prabang, with hundreds of tourists showing very varying levels of respect while they watch. While I took pictures quietly from the other side of the street, some seemed to think they were papping celebrities, getting right up in the monks faces. I herd a rumour that the monks of Luang Prabang threatened to stop the practice because it had become so commercial, but they were told by local officials that they had to continue, or they would simply pay people to dress up as monks and pretend instead. To be honest, this really wouldn’t surprise me.
