Luang Prabang

Laos’ star attraction, the entire city of Luang Prabang has been designated as a world heritage site and is thus a clean and relatively up-market Lao destination packed with old buildings (more temples!) and culture. The city itself sits along the side of the Mekong river and one of its tributaries, bordered by hills and forest containing the remarkably blue Kuang Si waterfalls. I spent slightly longer in Luang Prabang than I originally intended, taking my time to wander its streets and drink many a cup of incredible iced Lao coffee. Previous French colonialism also meant I ate more baguettes than I dare admit…
